During our Painting Bootcamp we learned the difference between watercolor and acrylic paints and how to use and blend them correctly. From there forth we were to choose a landscape that we wished to paint and would get to decide what to paint it with: acrylic or watercolor. I in the end choose to do booth and mostly winged it the entire time. I understand the point of the bootcamp but I personally didn’t find it very beneficial while painting. I was confused with some of the exercises we did and the rest just felt like a history class. In the end though I was happily surprised that my painting didn't turn into a disaster. I did struggle slightly with the black acrylic as I couldn't get it to be thin enough but I was able to make it work. When we collaborated and reflected I got many compliments on the sky and questions on which paint I had done it with, there was also a suggestion to add more details to the trees which I agree with fully but don't believe I'd be able to conduct properly. One of my friends had also suggested beforehand that I use skills we learned in “How to Use Pen and Ink Bootcamp” to ink the silhouette but I decided against that for my lack of skill with ink and not wanting to ruin the painting. Overall I’m happy with the outcome and it’s definitely my favorite work so far.
